Harbinger

Uh, so I didn't have a title for this post. So, I picked up my little pocket dictionary that sits in one of the cubbies on my desk, opened it up and pointed to this word. Weird.

Harbinger - noun - announcer of coming events.

I wonder what an announcer of past events would be... because that would be more suitable for this post.

Anyway. I digress... well, I think I digress. Now I'm digressing. (Is that a word?!)

I spent some time with my sister today. (We were supposed to get together much earlier, but I was distracted with unexpected company.) She had said she was a little jealous of Elizabeth and Tony's new photos, and wanted some new ones of her own. So, with our limited sun light, we went to the Village and took a couple ... okay, way more than a couple. But, we're rescheduling our 'true' photo day, so be watching for more to appear.

After our quick photo shoot, we went back to my mom's house so Angie could download the photos to her computer before I went home.

While I was there, I decided I wanted to get some photos of this. I was thinking maybe I could find a place online to email these photos, in hopes to get some kind of a clue as to what it is. This thing had been sitting on my mom's parents mantel for as long as she can remember. And, she thinks it came from her grandma's house. Its definitely fun to stare at and wonder about, yet we're hoping one day to know if it ever had a real purpose.

Of course, since I had the nice little backdrop set up, I took this photo. For the fun of it. I think he's cute.

How big was that wierd thing you took pictures of? Does it smell like tabacco? My brain hurts now Sheila! You have to figure out what that thing does!

Hey Tony! The main container part of it is about 6 inches long by 4 inches wide and 3 inches tall or so? Including the metals bars and the base, I'd say it stands a little less than a foot tall.

It has no scent to it anymore, if it ever had one before.

Maybe it was some ancient incense burner. It has that weird bowl on the top that looks similar to some incense burners.

someone else guessed that too. I sent out a couple emails yesterday to some antique dealers, maybe someone really know what it is!
