I haven't been tagged for anything in forever, especially over here. But, good ol' Tenacious B must of been reading my mind about needing to post something new on this blog.

1. I can write backwards in cursive. I used to write notes to my friends like this in school. They'd take them to the restroom and hold them up to the mirror to read them. Its not pretty handwriting, but its legible.

2. I cannot stand peas or carrots. The texture of these vegetables both cooked and raw are unacceptable to me. I can eat them if they are sprinkled in with other foods, though, as long I as I don't concentrate on the fact that they are in there.

3. I still have no idea what I want to be when I 'grow up'. I feel like I have lots of things that I'm interested in, but definitely nothing that I'm passionate about.

4. I've only flown once (round trip), which was also the only time that I have seen the ocean. Both were during a two day trip to Myrtle Beach for an old friend's wedding literally less than a month before Tom got hurt.

5. I don't do well with receiving compliments. At all. I truly have to remind myself when I receive a compliment to just shut up and say thank you, instead of verbally discounting the person's words. (Does this sentence make sense?)

6. I can't do heights. I get vertigo. I feel nauseas. Using a step ladder can mess with my head unless I really talk myself through it the whole time.

7. I have yet to be in a car accident. Either as a driver or as a passenger. Ever. Unless I was a little kid or a baby, then I don't remember it. I don't think I would know what I was supposed to do after an accident... like contacting the insurance company, how to get a police report... that kind of thing.

We have a friend that lives in Alabama, and I heard on the news that its 40 degrees down there. Not that its quite cold enough to freeze, but... what happens if it does stay at 32 long enough...

I'm feeling a little goofy.

I'm not certain why, but it could be a good thing.

Unless you have to spend large quantities of time with me... then you might try to kill me, and, really, thats no fun. Well, no fun for me, anyhow. And, well, you'd have to attempt to hide all the evidence and run from the authorities. Really, thats rather exhausting work. You'd wanna take a nap during all that, which would make you a lot easier to catch up with.

So, if you find yourself waking up in a prison cell, you can blame yourself for spending time with me.

I must admit, I am rather completely clueless when it comes to web hosting. In fact, I think I might have better luck building the next space shuttle. (NASA, you lookin’ for cheap labor? Send me an email!) Needless to say, if anyone could make finding a host easier, that would in turn make my life easier. And, if my life were easier, then you all would enjoy my company more. And then I would have more friends, and I would eventually become as popular as Paris Hilton (or whomever the coolest kid is now).

Typing Elbow

My elbow hurts. If I played tennis, I'd say it was tennis elbow. But, considering I've never really played tennis, I don't know how it would feel to have tennis elbow. So, I honestly have no idea what I'm talking about. But, my elbow does hurt. I do know that for certain. I wonder why... maybe its typing elbow. Does that happen?

Christmas Plans

I'm hosting my mom's family Christmas this year. Its kind of exciting, really. I think only one of my cousins from that side of the family has been to my house. So, we'll be able to show off our house to everyone this Christmas... which, in return, means that I have to clean my entire house for Christmas.

Not that I wouldn't of had to clean it anyhow.

We'll be going to my cousin's house for my dad's side of Christmas (I never know how to say that correctly). We've never been there, either, so she'll be going through what I'm going through also!! Yay for us, I guess.

Tom and his sisters get together with his father and step mother on Christmas eve traditionally. I believe that is still the plan this year.

My mom and my sister will be over Christmas morning, to the best of my knowledge, just like always. And, Tom's family is coming over Christmas day!

If I were smart, I'd start tidying up the house now. But I won't. I'll wait until the night before and wonder why... as always!

We went to the doctor on Monday, just for a basic check up. Oddly enough, its been nearly a year since Tom has actually visited his doctor in person. I can't believe it, but I know its true. We do a lot of things over the phone since transportation is not super simple in Tom's situation. And, Tom has a wonderful Home Health service that comes out at least once a week to make sure he's doing okay.

Anyhow, everything went smoothly at the doctors office. We both love Tom's doctor. She's super nice. I hope we never lose her.

I think my main purchase, after paying off Christmas, will be to get my eyes checked and get new glasses. I think my eyes are half the cause of my issues lately. In fact, I know my eyes are strained. So strained, actually, that I find myself having to close them quite frequently here lately. Which, by closing my eyes for a prolonged period of time, I end up falling asleep... in all honesty, its the easiest way for my eyes to relax. But, it does mess up ones sleeping schedule (not that I really had one of those to begin with).

Anyhow - thats my plan. For now, anyhow.

Have you seen that series that is on the SciFi channel right now? The twisted one about the Wizard of Oz? I'm not sure what to think about it yet, as its only into its second of three shows anyhow. But, overall, I think its alright. I'm not normally one to mess with a good thing... overall, I think remakes are unnecessary. And then when someone goes and rewrites the whole concept of the movie, I think its weird.

Who in their right mind would refuse a massage for an unlimited amount of time in the privacy of their own home? Really? What could be better! When you come home from a stressful day at work, you can sit down in this amazing massage chair and instantly relax! The fact that the chair concentrates on several different spots of the body is wonderful! You can get the tension between your shoulders worked on while reducing the knots in your calves at the same time. And who doesn’t love a good foot massage?! Can we briefly discuss that its cold here. I realize its not as cold here as it is in other places in the world. But, I'm not overly excited about it being cold. Really, though, is there anyone in the world that is overly excited about the cold?

That would be abnormal, in my opinion.

Even if its a different episode, they still play the same clips. Just in a different order. Like they're being all clever and whatever.

Who doesn’t like Johnny Depp? Seriously? I mean, if you don’t like Johnny Depp, I don’t know how you’re able to watch a movie much anymore. It seems that everywhere you turn, Johnny is staring in another movie.

I remember watching Johnny Depp in Edward Scissorhands. That was such an amazing part to see him portray. He seemed to master the ability to make Edward appear naïve and curious about the world around him. Watching his facial features in the film was superb, nearly not even needing to hear a word he said, his emotions played clearly in his eyes.

I truly enjoyed watching Johnny Depp portraying Sam in the movie Benny and Joon. It seemed that he really took Buster Keeton’s work to heart and attempted to replicate his work. I love that Johnny played a misfit in the movie, but was the ‘straight man’ as well, attempting to comprehend Joon’s mental illness.

To say that I’m excited about his newest movie, Sweeney Todd, would be a lie. I’m ecstatic to see Johnny in his latest role! He never ceases to amaze his fans, taking on outstanding and thoughtful roles. I’ve been to visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site, taking in as much information possible about Johnny’s latest movie! I’m off to visit Sweeney Todd on Myspace to get more information about the movie now!

One thing people seem to forget about when planning any type of even is the lighting. Its interesting that, in general, we all assume that the lighting will automatically be taken care of and will suffice.

In all actuality, lighting really helps create mood and atmosphere during any important event. Imagine, lets say, a large wedding in a huge church. You normally either have the outrageously bright florescent lighting or barely visible lighting, normally. Now, if you were to think ahead, you could get some wedding lights and strategically place them in the isles, along the stairs or railing and up on the stage. It sure would look nice, don’t you think?

Art Lover

I love the arts. I love pictures, sculptures, paintings… you name it, I most likely love it! Tom and I have been planning on getting to our semi-local museum sometime soon. It’s been forever since we’ve both been, and have never been together. But, now it’s getting too cold for Tom and I to venture out to the museum this year. Maybe we’ll get to it next spring.

Could you imagine, instead of going to a museum in the cold weather, going on an Artwalk in one of the oldest cities in the United States? Now, that would be an amazing journey. St. Augustine is a beautiful location to have Artwalks. You’ll never need to try to think of something to do again when in Northern Florida with their First Friday Weeked Art Walk!

St. Augustine Artwalk's are full of amazing artists of all forms. I’m sure there would be something for each spectator to be thrilled with. Of course, there is music and refreshments to enjoy between galleries, too! The tours begin at 5 PM and run until 9 PM, plenty of time to see the sights at an easy pace, especially since they offer complimentary trolley tours that stop at several locations.

Not so traditional

During the holidays around here, we have to find a way to make it to several different people's houses within a set amount of time.

I personally love the organized chaos of lunch at the Aunt's house, then dinner at Tom's dads, then the next day having dinner at another Aunt's house and Tom's mom bringing a meal over to our house.

Its kinda crazy. Its a little hectic. But, its tradition, and I really do love it.

This year was very laid back, though. Tom's dad and stepmom went to NY to visit her son, which cut out a dinner. Then, my mom's side of the family couldn't get their schedules to mesh, so we went without that meal. And lastly, the dinner that Tom's mom brought over was scheduled at the same time as one of my Aunt's.

I could of made an effort to get over and see my Aunt and the rest of my extended family, but just didn't have any motivation (or gasoline) to accomplish the task.

Tom's mom made an excellent meal. We spend some time snuggling with the baby girl and everyone went on their merry way!

A superb Thanksgiving day, in my opinion.

Is it payday yet?

There has been more than one time in my life where I have been out of money before the next payday occurs. In fact, I believe it’s a common occurrence for a lot of people. Its amazing, really. Even people who make decent amounts of money can still find themselves struggling to the next check.

There are several possibilities as to why this happens. Bad budgeting, poor paying job, not living within your means, and unexpected expense through the week… These are all typical problems of the times, in my opinion.

So, the question would be, what do you do when you need money to make it until next payday?

You could definitely look into getting a payday loan. If you’re smart about the way you use them, these loans could help out tremendously. And, with the holidays being so close, I have a feeling several people will be looking into payday loans fairly quickly!

Super Easy

Are you done with your Christmas shopping yet? Have you even started? You better get on it, because there are less than thirty five days left until Christmas.

I personally hate going to the stores to get my Christmas shopping done. I’m not fond of large crowds, cold weather or attempting to find a parking spot in the same zip code as the shopping center I want to go into.

Instead, I can accomplish nearly all of my holiday shopping online, from the comfort of my computer desk, which I spend most of my time at anyhow. And, with online coupons so easily accessible, why would I not want to shop online?

I can easily get my shopping out of the way for Tom’s baby niece done with coupons from Corner Stork Baby Gifts while simultaneously shopping at Computer Geeks for my brother! Can you say, “Super convenient?” This is what I’m talking about!

Elizabeth's wedding invitations came in today. How do I know this? They got mailed to my house, since I'm home all day, to prevent any possible weather damage or thievery. (Not that either of these things would occur, but would you want to risk the possibility of your wedding invitations getting damaged? Hell no!)

Anyway - they're super cute. I really hope she likes them, which she should... she picked them out. Maybe here soon I'll take a picture or two of them so she can put them on her blog.

Now we're working on the program. All the big important stuff is starting to pull together for her wedding, which means we're getting closer to the big day!

RisibleGirl sent me some tantowels which I'm super excited to try, but haven't done so yet. Maybe I'll play with those tonight. There will be before and after pictures of that, I promise!

Improvements

I think a lot of my regular readers know that my boyfriend Tom suffered a spinal cord injury in September of 2003. Before his accident, Tom was quite the active guy. It would seem like in one day he’d paint the house, replant the whole landscaping, weed the vegetable garden, cook a wonderful dinner for us and then settle down for the night and relax by playing guitar. He obviously knew a little about muscle aches and pains before he got hurt.

Since his deer stand collapsed and Tom became a quadriplegic, we began to learn that being paralyzed does not mean that you cannot feel pain, which is a positive and a negative, in my opinion. In fact, Tom’s muscle pain is more intense than ever now that he’s been hurt, sometimes bringing our day to a halt while attempting to lessen the hurt for him. He regularly has neck pain, shoulder pain, and has even complained about his back hurting! We’ve talked to his doctors and quite a few of them recommend a pain relief regiment that could easily include Freeze It Gel.

By using Freeze It Gel up to four times daily, Tom might actually be able to make it through a day relatively pain free. It would be the first time in four years that this would be possible. Could you imagine? And, if Tom were able to be pain free, he would be more apt to use the arm muscles that aren’t paralyzed even longer, which would strengthening them, allowing him do be able to do more things in the long run!

Obviously, you could see that a permanent regiment that would relieve anyone from pain is not only an improvement on someone’s attitude about life, but can actually physically improve it too! Trying Freeze It Gel could change our lives for the better. We should get some today.

Bigger is better

I need a big wall calendar. One of those that shows you one month at a time. You know which ones I'm talking about?

Where we're able to place the calendar in the bedroom so Tom can see it is too far away for a typical sized calendar. If we had one of those large ones, Tom would be able to see it from across the room. Wouldn't that be nice?

Of course, then he'll have me fill it out with every sports event for the next year. Bah. ;)

I just saw on one of those reality video shows some guy stick his hand in a sharks mouth... now, I would think that logic would tell someone that, unless you're certain that the shark is dead, not to stick your hand in its mouth.

Well, obviously this guy didn't think about it. The shark (which was caught while deep sea fishing) grabbed hold of the dudes arm and did not let go! They had to use a crowbar to break the sharks teeth and dislodge the moron's arm.

The guy was lucky though. He only had 9 puncture wounds that bled like crazy. But, otherwise was alright.

This is My Life

I love my digital camera. Tom got it for me for our first Christmas after he got hurt. I thought it was an unnecessary purchase and gave him trouble for even considering it as a present, although I had wanted a digital camera for a long time before then.

I have a FugiFilm FinePix S5000. I’ve owned it for nearly four years and have definitely got every pennies worth from it. I have been asked to take friends senior pictures. I have been requested for weddings. I am the designated photographer for any birthdays, holidays or other form of event.

My true passion with my camera is portraits, though. I love to be the person called when my friends or family want new photos for their picture frames or, when they need photos to pass out in Christmas cards. I’ve even been called on a moments notice just because a friend is feeling especially cute that day. I’ll immediately grab my camera and take off to the nearest location!

I highly recommend that everyone have digital cameras of some form. At the very least, a small pocket sized one to carry easily on you is essential. You could find the perfect sunset and be able to quickly snap the photo. You could find that one weird plant that you love but can never explain to anyone and have a picture to show everyone next time… The options are nearly endless!!

Home Decorator

I love the game Sims. I used to play it all the time. I should pull it back off the shelf and play it again! What I loved most about the game was building the houses and decorating them! It was really fun to build these outrageously huge places with the 'top of the line' decor and watch the little Sim people ogle over every item.

Of course, it took me a while before I figured out what the cheat code was so I could allow my little Sims to live there without being evicted! I'm really slow when it comes to cheat codes, for some reason!!

I love a good book. You know what I’m talking about? One of those books that you just can’t set down until you’re done? Yeah, that’s some good stuff. And, one of my favorite authors that is constantly making me hold on to their book until the last page is Steven King.

Steven King is probably the only author that I like to read when it comes to scary books. I’m not really sure why that is, but it’s the truth. When I was a young and naive teenager, I remember grabbing the thick book IT from the library, and taking it home. Now, I don’t know what possessed me to check out that book. I will tell you, in all honesty, I considered several times putting the book down and returning it to the library. Yet, I made it through and haven’t ever turned back!

There is a new movie coming out called The Mist by Stephen King. Have you heard of it? I’ve seen the previews, and it looks promising! I love the struggles between the characters that are supposed to be working together to defeat the creatures outside of the store. That will make for some great scenes, I would think.

We just bought a new lamp for our bedroom. Its a floor lamp, and a touch light. Thank God someone developed a touch light. Now Tom can turn on the lamp from bed. I don't know if you all realize how nice this is for us. The more things that Tom can control on his own, the less I have to manage.

Our friends had bought us a wonderful remote control ceiling fan which is superb also! Now Tom can control the temperature in the bedroom on his own. The downfall to the ceiling fan was that the lighting was not very bright at all...

But, now we have our lamp, and we're good to go. Well, for a little while, anyhow!

Okay, I don’t think anyone reading my blog is so far in a cave that they’re unaware that Christmas is coming. And, I’m talking like super quick. Have you started shopping yet? Have you made out your Christmas lists? Have you picked out your holiday cards yet? You better hurry up with purchasing your cards, if your friends and family are going to receive them before the New Year!

I love getting and receiving cards. Its one of the highlights of my days during this dreary time of year. Its like a little ray of sunshine in an envelope addressed to me!! (How greeting card like was that statement?! Ya like that, did ya?)

I’m going to continue to dream about the day that I have a garage again, okay? Just bare with me.

One thing that I would love to have is a beautiful garage flooring in my garage. I want something easy to clean up and also nice to look at. I don’t know why! I know a car will be parked on top of it. But, if I’m going to get to build my garage to my liking, this is what I want. Okay? Okay.

I really like the tiled look shown at GarageGuys.com. I mean, its truly stunning! And, with the idea of them being watertight and that they can easily be laid on an uneven surface? I’m sold!

There are some horrible diseases in the world today. These diseases are things that the medical world is just starting to understand, yet have no idea on how to cure them yet. It is a constant struggle to attempt to move forward towards better treatments and finding cures for these ailments. The cost for projects like these are outrageous.

Most of the time, the public is asked to help fund medical research towards a specific disease. I believe this is an excellent way to help increase awareness and help the public feel like they are able to help find the cure.

If you know of someone who has been affected by Alzheimer’s disease, you know how obviously horrible this sickness is. The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America website offers a plethora of information regarding Alzheimer’s and things we can do to help out its victims our future. There are surveys, legal and financial planning… truly, this is a superb website which helps millions who know of people affected by this disease.

During this upcoming holiday season, as any time of year, we should not forget those who have been stricken by this terrible disease. We need to continue to make sure these people are getting the best care possible, as do all of our elders and disabled. We need to make sure that helping find cures for these debilitating illnesses are forefront on everyone’s minds.

OMG - I am so super tired. Our party turned out awesome with a load of people. We stayed warm with some fires, played some loud live music and made the neighbors angry (okay, only one neighbor). Everyone has probably forgotten to pay a bill once in their lives. Some people don’t realize how much a late payment can affect their credit. When Tom got hurt, I kind of let my financial self go for a while. I missed payments on my credit cards, and let other bills slide also. What I did not grasp at the time was how badly I was affecting my future, making interest rates rise and lending companies less apt to work with me. I am cleaning up my credit report, thank goodness. I think I will check out this site regarding credit cards… I should be able to find a much better offer and hopefully get that debt paid off faster! You should check them out too, you can easily find better deals for bad credit loans.

As some of you already know, my computer tower finally decided to kick the bucket the other day. I have not even started looking into fixing it yet, because that cost money. And regretfully, money is one thing I do not have.

So, my friend Pam happened to mention she had a spare tower sitting around at her house. I quickly jumped at the offer and spent some time this evening revamping the thing.

I'm so excited to be able to get back online. Yet, at the same time... I do kind of wonder how I spent so much time online before. What did I look at? How did I occupy myself?

I have no garage here at my house. My poor car and Tom’s van have to sit outside in the cold and rain, being exposed to the elements! Its horrible!! Not to mention having to clean the snow off the vehicles before driving them, or even dealing with cold while loading up!

I'm starting to make Christmas lists, and browsing online for myself and Tom.

Tom said something about running a hose through the drain near the washing machine. I don't quite know how that'll work, but I'm willing to try anything to avoid calling a plumber. And, I definitely need to get this figured out before the party!

Oh my gosh! I just looked at the most beautiful French Beds I’ve ever seen! I’d love to have one of those bedrooms that you see on display in magazines and at stores. With one of the beds from Time 4 Sleep, I’d be one step closer. Not only that, but I’d also be sleeping in heaven-like state!

They have tons of different types of beds to choose from, too. I could stare at this site for hours, dreaming of the perfect one for me!

Did ya know, I’m a good sleeper, but I’m not really a good waker-upper. Tom would totally agree with that statement, I'm sure. With the divine memory foam mattresses that they offer, I’m sure I’d be even less apt to get out of bed! And this type of mattress is also good for Tom’s condition… Maybe I’ll look into them a little bit more!

I think we need a new thermostat. My blower motor won't turn off when we have the heater on. So, the heater runs until it meets its required temperature. But, instead of the blower motor switching off, it'll continue to blow cool air out... which defeats the purpose of having the heater on.

The reason I think its the thermostat instead of the furnace is because I can use the on / off switch and the blower will flip on and off.

What do you think? I definitely hope its only the thermostat. They're much cheaper to fix!

Amusement Parks are pretty cool. I personally don’t like the rides so much, but I absolutely LOVE watching other people ride them. I enjoy their calm looks as they take off from the platform just to be completely freaked out with the first drop or the intense speed!

Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach looks like the ideal place for me to get my kicks! They have several different types of rides , some looking absolutely horrifying to me … in a good way!

Of course, its not all about the rides at this Amusement Park. They’ve got fabulous looking shows and all sorts of places to eat. Heck, there’s also their Cineffex 4D theatre, with tons of amazing features! I’m all about trying that out at least once!

You know, you'd think that giving Tom a shower would be fun for the both of us. But, its not anywhere close to entertaining, on either part.

Since we don't have the proper shower chair for Tom to sit in right now, I have to bend over at an awkward angle. My back hurts afterwards from the crazy and unintentional exercise its getting. Tom is sunk down into the chair we're using, which hinders his arm movement... making it near impossible for him to help out. And, with the lack of ability to tilt back, he gets lightheaded... which makes me feel like I should hurry even more.

Hopefully, after the benefit, we'll be able to get a chair that'll help out with these problems.

But, hey, he's had more showers this past month then he's had the last four years! So, I'm really not complaining... I'm just explaining.

One of the hardest things for me to figure out is a way to entertain Tom and I both when we go out, which in itself is a rare occurrence. If we lived in St. Augustine Florida, this website would cure all of our problems. There are events on the last Saturday of every month which caters to a whole bunch of different groups. Honestly, Tom and I would both enjoy several activities listed here!

I’m definitely partial to the historic side of St. Augustine. I’m a sucker for the styles of the past. Whether it be houses, clothing or nik naks. I love to stare at these items and wonder who has used them in the past. Sometimes when I’m bored, I stare at some of my stuff laying around and think of the day that they will be antiques! I wonder if someone in the past stared at their items and pondered the same thing! Send me to an antique store and happy. Give me money to spend there, and I’m in heaven!

St. Augustine events are the last Saturday of every month, featuring live music, antique workshops or even book signings! If you’re near San Marco Avenue the last Saturday of the month, like October 27 or November 24, make sure you get to the Uptown Saturday Night! Its free… what more could you ask for!

I love our local news channel. They're so goofy! One of my favorite parts is that one of the news anchors works out with a professional trainer for a couple minutes. Its to show the general public what a trainer would do for you at the gym, and maybe to show you a couple things that you could do at home.

Anyway, this anchor always has to announce the next segment after doing the workout. And, he does not attempt to hide the fact that he is winded... and that he can feel the exercise working.

Like, he'll say, "Well, since *gasp* I can't feel my legs *gasp* anymore, we're *gasp wheeze* going to have so-n-so *wheeze* tell you about those *gasp* recalls!"

Sadly, I don’t have a garage. And, honestly, parking my car in there would be nice, but its not really the main reason I want a garage. I want all those cabinets, a great work bench, and my walls covered in peg board. I’m serious.

My parents garage is amazingly organized. My dad worked on cars all the time, allowing him to gather all sorts of tools. There’s a place for everything. You can quickly scan the garage and see if a tool is missing. I remember my dad asking me more than once, “Where’s my screwdriver?” When I was really young, I thought it was amazing that he noticed it was missing amongst all his millions of tools…

So, one day, when I’m able to build a garage, I will be purchasing a nice tool chest, fluorescent lighting and some decent seating…. Because I won’t be the one doing the work in there!

I was just talking to Tom’s little sister tonight about her need to update her computer tower. You know, something a little newer than 1993. She looked at me with a little bit of panic and said that there was all sorts of stuff on her computer that absolutely needed to be saved. I don’t blame her for freaking out a little bit… I’ve never changed out computers with the desire to keep anything I had stored on the old on. I thought about it a little bit, and recommended to store her important stuff on the internet while making the switch to a newer and faster tower.

I easily found this place called Idrive online, which does exactly what she would need. Online backup makes so much sense anyhow! Who wants to loose all their files if their home computer explodes? Not me! So, by storing your important files at Idrive, not only is everything tucked away safely and securely, but its easy to access when you need it!

I should really look at their unlimited storage for a small monthly fee, because I would be absolutely devastated if I lost all of my digital photos. I think $4.95 monthly is a small price to pay to make sure my priceless digital memories don’t ever get lost!

Here in KC, the top news story (for some reason) is the fact that all the Hannah Montana concert tickets sold out so fast. They compared the quick sales to an Elvis concert...

It turns out that most of the tickets were sold to scalpers, and of course they'll turn around and sell them for four times the amount they paid. I've heard that you can find the tickets online for $1000!!!?!!

That is insane. Well, I guess the insane part is that people would actually pay that. $1000. FOR ONE TICKET?!!?

I remember when I was a kid, the New Kids On The Block concert was THE concert to attend. And I did. For like, $30. (Of course, it was the nose bleed section, but whatever.) I cannot fathom spending so much money for a kids concert.

I think anybody who knows me realizes that I live with my digital camera by my side. Tom got me a FinePix S5000 the Christmas after he got hurt. I never owned a digital before, and basically told Tom that anything would be okay. I love my camera. My next camera, when I’m rich of course, will have a detachable flash, I’ve already decided. Oh, I’d love to be able to change lenses also… but, you know, I’m not picky.

I’m always the one taking pictures at the party, documenting home improvements and I have even done someone’s high school senior pictures. I’m not a professional by any means, but I love taking photos!

Now, if I could just figure out some scrapbook page ideas, I’d be set!

My sleeping pattern is all messed up. The guys that have been working on the bathroom were getting here around 8:30 AM on Saturday and Sunday, which has really thrown my body for a loop. I don't mind the waking up at 9 AM or so, but I hate that I'm having a hard time getting into bed before 4 AM. I must have more sleep. I'm at least an 8 hour sleeper, but do better with 9!

Tom and Paul had loads of fun at the Chiefs Locker Room show. It'll be shown (local TV, of course) on KCTV Sunday at 10 AM, or something.

Tom was a little chatter box when he got home, telling me all sorts of things about the taping. And, of course, he showed off his autographs and photos from the Chiefs players.

I hope they decide to go again, because it seems like they really had a lot of fun!

I teased Tom all night about hob-knobbing with celebrities.

Holiday Shopping

Believe it or not, guys, the holiday season is literally around the corner. Before you know it, Halloween will be over and we’ll be staring Thanksgiving right in the mouth. Which means its definitely time to start Christmas shopping.

I’ve never done the whole shopping on Black Friday thing before. I hate getting up early. I hate crowds. I hate shopping with crowds. So, in the past I’ve attempted to stay as far away from the stores on the day after Thanksgiving. I’m normally in a food coma the day after Thanksgiving, anyhow!

This year, though, I might just jump in to those thanksgiving ads and get some good deals online! Oh yeah, baby! From the comfort of my desk chair, I’m totally going to be checking out Black Friday’s web site, looking for the best deals. And, I don’t have to be up at 5 AM, waiting in a line!

I could definitely shop at Best Buy on Black Friday. If only I had enough money to get that 42 inch plasma TV that Panasonic is offering. Well, how about I get Tom a DVD instead. That would be more in my price range! I’m all about checking into Wal-Mart to see about getting my niece and nephew something.

Saving money, and not having to go out into that chaos on Black Friday?! Sounds good to me!

Tom and Paul are going to the Chiefs Locker Room show tonight. Tom asked me if I wanted to come with them, but I quickly decided against it.

That would kind of be like Tom sitting through ... uhm ... something he's not interested in.

Don't get me wrong, I like watching Chiefs football. But, listening to a whole bunch of people talk about it? Not so much.

Anyhow - I really hope they have fun and its worth their time!

PS - Tom's feeling much much better! We're going to have to set something up to see the baby!

I’m always looking for the next best thing when it comes to losing weight. My best friend, Elizabeth, just bought me a exercise bike from a garage sale. Now, I just need to watch what I eat, and hopefully the pounds will fall off!

So, imagine my excitement when I saw this new online diet. Joel Marion says you can actually cheat on your diet and still lose weight?! Sign me up.

This web site does say that you can eat all of the normal foods that we’re supposed to stay away from when on a diet. You can eat chocolate, French fries and pizza! I’m definitely looking into this Cheat to Lose Diet right now!

I have three rings that needed to be resized. They've needed to be resized since they were purchased. But, what girl wants to give up her newest jewelry for any amount of time? Right.

Anyway - I take it to the department store where it was bought, thinking that by purchasing the rings there, they would size them for free.

Right. I mean, wrong.

The girl informs me that it cost $20 per ring if they were purchased more than a year ago. After, of course, I've told her that I had owned each ring for a minimum of two years.

I immediately decide to just get one sized. Dropping $20 is easier than paying $60 all at once.

While swiping my credit card, I ask the girl how she would know if the rings were less than a year old.

They take the customer's word on it.

Needless to say, when I take the other two rings in to get them sized, they will be less than a year old!

I’ve already seen someone using one of those counters to inform me that there is less than 4 months until Christmas! That means that Halloween and Thanksgiving are even closer! Where does the time go?

I really do love the Christmas season, but sometimes get a little stressed about money. I always have the best intentions of buying my friends and family these amazing presents, but can never scrape together enough money. So, while searching the internet, I’ve found couponchief.com. Thank goodness! With all these coupons so easily accessible, I might be able to find some decent presents to give this year.

With online coupons to stores like Target and Overstock.com, I can easily save money while purchasing my mom and sister’s presents. What do you think I should get them? Clothes? A new electronic toy? Maybe… maybe…

And, Tom’s family? We could definitely buy something for Josh at Best Buy, with no problem! I’m thinking we’ll look into some form of laptop accessory, since he’s using his so much in college now.

But, seriously, I need to look at the online coupons when shopping for Ashlyn, since I’m a sucker for babies. I could easily spend millions on any child. All the cute little clothes and toys?! Maybe I should bookmark the Baby Center Store’s coupons from Coupon Chief… just in case I get the urge to buy something, I’ll be able to save some cash.

I know that instead of saving the money from using the coupons, though, I’ll just buy more stuff. That’s not a horrible thing, in my opinion!

Kid Nation

Okay, I admit it.

Being a sucker for reality television, when I first heard about Kid Nation, I kind of shrugged my shoulders and said, "That could be interesting."

I really didn't put any thought into the process of how the show was being made. And, now, with news articles popping up left and right, I've started thinking about it.

I don't think we should think that CBS is the only devil in this situation. They should be in some form of legal trouble, I believe. But, the parents signed contracts for their children to spend 40 days and nights in this set-up. (The kids are only 8 - 15 years old.)

If I had a child, especially after watching reality shows like Survivor, I'd be asking some serious questions before even considering signing a contract. All I can assume is that the money was good... (I haven't researched the show that much, honestly.)

There are legal issues here that need to be dealt with before another reality show like this is brought along.

For example, CBS does claim that they did not violate Child Labor Laws because the children were 'participating' not 'working'. I call BS. If the kids are getting monetary reimbursement for 'participating', I believe that is the basic definition for 'working'.

And to think, the show hasn't even premiered yet!

Oh, and honestly, I think I'm still going to tune in. I've got to make sure I don't change my opinion...
