Tom's wounds are looking pretty gosh darn good. Still not healed, or close to it, but they're on the upswing now. Which, is a huge deal, of course.
More so because the wound care nurse decided to use Duoderm, which we've had bad luck with in the past. But, she said this is a new form of this patch so maybe that's the difference.
Maybe also I know a little more about sores this time around, and know how Tom's body tries to heal them. These patches are supposed to be able to stay on the wound for as many as three days, as we've been told in the past.
This is not so for Tom. They must be changed daily in order to keep up with the drainage from his wounds. (During Tom's first set of wounds, I just took the nurses word and left these patches on for days at a time. Doing this kept the drainage held close to the good skin and made it break down as well, therefore making the wound much larger than before. Also, by leaving the patches on for days at a time, you cannot see if you're creating any more problems until its way too late.)
Anyhow, Tom decided to get up in his chair today for a little while since the wounds are moving along. He did make it outside for a minute or two but he didn't stay out long due to the chilly wind. At least it was a small break in the monotony.
