Is this a medical blog? Geez.

We had a wound care nurse visit today and assess Tom's two spots. She seems confident that the stage 2 wound on his calf will heal rather quickly because there is no dead tissue and everything is looking healthy. On the other hand, though, the one on his rear (although it did not 'scare' her - therefore was not in horrible shape) must be labeled as 'unstageable' because the necrotic* (dead) tissue is hiding the true depth of the wound.

So, she set us up with some supplies and will return next week to see the progress. Until we have a hold on these, Tom has decided to stay in bed and off the wounds. It really sucks for him considering the temperature nearly hit 65 or so today. But, its better to stay off them now and get them healed than to miss all of spring and summer in bed because the wounds were worse.

Tom has an appointment with his primary care physician on Tuesday. It will consist mainly of a basic check up.

My dad and mom are waiting to hear from John Hopkins from a doctor there who has had success with treating Anaplastic Thyroid cancer. (Success translates to a total of 9 survivors world wide - I think.) This doctor will tell Dad's doctor at KU what method of treatment to do and when. Hopefully this treatment will work.

My cousin is getting her medical stuff sorted out, finally. Hopefully, after tomorrow, she'll done with doctors and hospitals for a long long time.

*Is this the right spelling of this word? Thats what spell check said... but I've never seen the written word before.
